I used to think I was a swaddling pro. My little burritos were totally baby-proof. No way those boys were breaking out of those things. But Sofie's latest funny game (besides the "let's see how many times I can get mom to cave and be my binky in the middle of the night" game) is to see how quickly she can completely bust out of her blankets. And then she lays there wailing because she's not all wrapped up and snuggly anymore, and when you go to rewrap her, she gives you this sad look like "Why aren't I snuggly?"
So then you rewrap her, and she busts free again...
Babies and their logic. Sheesh.
No longer. In the battle of wills between Sofie and I regarding whether or not I will be her binky, I always lose (never thought I would have to admit to losing any battle of wills with any of my insanely stubborn children, but I digress...), but this one, I win.
Because she will never, ever, ever bust out of this getup.
This is the Lotta Jansdotter Snuggler, from this book. (You can get the pattern for free right here!) It came together SO quickly! I keep seeing these things made with these really modern prints, and they look so great. So, I was looking for something along those lines when I was shopping for fabric. Turns out, though, that the mod thing just isn't me. So, funky cartoon flowers it is. The inside is a fuzzy cotton chenille, which is really nice.
She can't get her arms free no matter how much she squirms. Also, I predict she will grow out of this in about two weeks (I should have made this MONTHS ago!). But, I think she likes it.
And if Sofie sleeps through the night tonight, I am totally going to mail Lotta Jansdotter a giant box of cookies.
