Well, we've had a fun weekend. We spent last night in a little teepee at a campground less than an hour from home.
Can you believe the sky? You won't believe me, but this is how this shot came out of the camera.
Matthew is a definite fan of camping in the teepee. Ryan and I are fans of camping cots (SO much better than sleeping on the ground). Grandma is a fan of earplugs, to keep out the noise from the "bears." And we're not sure what the bear is a fan of. We'll have to ask him.
We are not so much fans of adjacent campers who put their kids in a "kids tent" and then leave them to wail through the night. Also, I am not such a fan of having to get up and hike to the restroom three times a night.
But, all things considered, it was a great little trip
Oh, and we also went to a family reunion today. I'm not into reunions, especially once they get so big that you actually really could legally get married to anyone else there (OK, not so much true for me, and I still insist that marrying your third cousin might be legal but it's just GROSS), but if we skip out we will be disowned by this pair...
...and I wouldn't mess with this pair if I were you. This one on the left recently fought off throat cancer just by gritting his teeth and growling at it. OK, and there were some chemo treatments, too, but you get the idea. The one on the right is forgetting a great deal of everything she knows, but she will still beat you up if you mess with her boyfriend. Seriously. Female nurses need not apply.
Mom played photographer today and got a photo of my HUGE belly. (Happy, Denise?) Yes, I know, it looks like I could just pop any day. Yes, indeed, I suddenly got very large and only anticipate getting larger. Gotta love those last three months. Anyway, this is my third trimester photo. Don't expect any more. We can save that sort of documentation for mammals who are meant to be this big. Whales, for example. Manatees. Wait, are manatees mammals? Anyway...
Speaking of mammals, the dogs were in seventh heaven today...
These little girls spent hours walking them, and feeding them, and following them around, and brushing them, and letting the dogs lick their hands, and petting them, and loving them...
On second thought, it sortof looks like Ben and Kim's poor dog has had just about enough. Maggie, sucker for attention that she usually is, was hiding behind my legs after about an hour of similar royal treatment and is currently too tuckered out to beg for string cheese, so that says something, I guess.
Maybe that's what I need around here--an army of little girls with hairbrushes.
Ah yes, the grin-and-bear it photos of the third trimester. I remember them well, and you're a good sport. I have to think this is some sort of insurance -- you'll have an extra easy second baby if you just pose for the well meaning friends and relatives.
Teepees and outhouses. Brave, brave mommy.
