The Thinking Blogger Award
Thank you SO much to Jill for awarding me a "Thinking Blogger" award. You have no idea how much I thrive on positive feedback like this. It really truly made my day! It's always fun to check in on Jill's blog and find out what is going on back in Utah, and I can definitely see why the "Thinking Blogger" got passed to her in the first place! Thank you Jill!
The rules of the award are as follows:
- If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
- Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
- Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote. Click here for the buttons: Gold Version, Silver Version
You have no idea how hard it was for me to narrow my list of blogs that make me think down to five favorites (a daunting task when you have a bloglist like mine!), but here goes!
- The Purling Sprite - Isela is my good friend, of course, and I really love checking out her knitting and looming projects, and her pictures of her kids, and just the happy way she writes about life, but the real reason she is getting this award is this post. I have never met anyone that so perfectly represents "the American Dream." Isela has accomplished more in her life and overcome more obstacles than just about anyone I know. She is such a success story, and her post on her life story really inspired me.
- Zeneedle - Margene gets the award for constantly reminding us about the importance of the process. I have a tendency to rush through projects so that I can enjoy the product and to be really hard on myself if things aren't going just as I envision them. I am a girl who wants to be as good as the pros at everything I do, and if I can't do that, I may as well quit. I credit Margene for the fact that I have learned to slow down, not be so hard on myself, and enjoy just creating.
- Lolly Knitting Around - Lolly, and her fantastic Project Spectrum, has really made me rethink color. I'm really growing to love and appreciate colors and combinations that I didn't really believe I was that fond of!
- Sheye Rosemeyer Photography - I couldn't give awards without including a photography blog! Sheye recently lost a daughter in a tragic accident. Her writing on her loss is absolutely heartbreaking, but it has been such a reminder to me to enjoy every moment with Matthew and take nothing for granted, an important bit of thinking, indeed. The fact that her photography is just stunning goes without saying.
- Lucky Beans - This is a blog by a mom about her family living in Africa, and it's fun to read because it seems so exotic! Besides being a beautiful blog full of beautiful people, I always really admire how much fun they seem to have as a family, and yet it seems like she is so great at teaching her children to enjoy the simple things in life. They bake bread, they take naps, they go for walks and look at bugs and have tea parties and play dress-up. It's just such a contrast against the blogs that are all about getting STUFF! Lucky Beans has just made me think more about what sort of mom I really want to be.
Thank you Kimmy. It humbles me greatly to be in this list. Thank you!

OH! I'm so glad Jill included you in her list. I had such a hard time getting mine down to 5, and YOU were one of the problems! This makes me feel so much better abou it. I can't wait to visit your recommended blogs. Some of my favorites are some you have introduced me to in the past.

You would be high on my list of 'thinking bloggers'. Just look at your book list on the left sidebar! Your posts on blogs you enjoy, on your family, life as the wife of a law student, etc. do give me something to 'chew on' while reading. It's a nice way to stay in touch with you despite the miles. Thank you for the nomination!
